Our Future Needs

Ellijay Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary
435 Cougar Lane
Eillijay, Georgia 30540
(706) 276-2980

To You Who Can Make A Difference . . .

We are pleased to present the future needs of Ellijay Wildlife Rehabilitation to you, the committed and dedicated wildlife preservationist. The total amount of our request is $771,606.80, or any part thereof. On this web site, you will find specific information describing and illustrating our Indoor Nature Center. On the following page, you will find a description of each section:

Wildlife Hospital, Clinic and Treatment Center
Educational Center with Classrooms
Wildlife Library and Media Center
Food Preparation, Distribution and Storage Area
Reptile Display

The second phase of this project is our five acre Wildlife Natural Habitat Eastern Cougar Pre-Release and Research Area. In this area, we will place a pregnant female for the purpose of allowing her to have her cubs and raise them in a natural habitat. At the end of two years, the cubs will be ready for release back into the wild. During this two-year time period, scientists and environmentalists will have the greatest opportunity to study and research America's most endangered native mammal -- the Eastern Cougar. It is important for you to know that these two projects have been carefully studied, developed, and are now ready for implementation. In our research, we have determined the following:

  1. The Indoor Nature Center will be constructed at a cost of only $52.00 per square foot. The total square footage is 9,119 sq. ft. This will require a sum of $474,188.00. In addition, we have assumed a 10% Contingencies Reserve of $47,418.80. The total for this completed project is $521,606.80.
  2. The five acre Wildlife Natural Habitat project will be constructed at a cost of $50,000.00 per acre. The costs will include land acquisition, fencing, safety features, emergency medical facilities, and "blinds" for study and research. The total for this phase is $250,000.00.

Together, we CAN make the difference! We have other projects—one may be just right for your help. Please contact us if you need any additional information or have any questions.

Sincerely,

"Grizzly" Craig Cylke
